The cost of not mediating
- Mediation is recognised as being a cheaper and quicker way to resolve your family disputes rather than going to court. With family lawyers charging anything from £150-£500 per hour plus VAT, divorce via court proceedings often costs thousands of pounds depending on the complexity of the case.
- Mediation is a far quicker way to resolve family issues than court proceedings. A typical mediation covering property, finance and child issues can usually be resolved in 3-5 sessions over a period of 3-4 months.
- A typical family case going through the court system could take anything from 6-24 months.
- Court proceedings can take a huge emotional toll on both parties. Mediation is recognised as being less stressful than court proceedings and offers clients the opportunity to reach their own decisions about matters personal to them, and not have decisions imposed upon them by a judge in a courtroom.
